Seoul, June 12, 2007 - F5 Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: FFIV), the global leader in Application Delivery Networking, today announced that Chungnam National University has chosen the F5 BIG-IP 6400 Local Traffic Manager to ensure high availability, fast and secure delivery of information, resulting in quicker download speeds and enhanced user experience for its Web Course Registration Site.
Prior to implementing the F5 solution, Chungnam National University had an average of about 20,000 students encountering service delays and/or difficulties accessing the website daily. The university had relied on adding servers to address the traffic problem but was unable to meet anticipated increases in usage and traffic volumes. Following a number of tests, Chungnam National University selected a high availability deployment of the F5 BIG-IP 6400 Local Traffic Managers, along with HTTP Compression and RAM caching to help manage and streamline traffic across Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Internet links.
"We have selected BIG-IP LTM as it showed completely stable and reliable performance in BMT before actual deployment. Now with F5's BIG-IP LTM, we are able to enhance download speed by over 250% and, at the same time, reduce server traffic by 30-40%. It only takes average of 15-20 minutes versus the 4 hours previously to register for a web course," said Ji Doo-Sun, member of the Information Network Management Team of Information and Communication Department of Chungnam National University. "We can also secure the servers for course registration from external security threats through its Web security functions."
"BIG-IP LTM can help to raise the level of the service for customers by enabling intelligent application delivery and reducing server traffic," said Nam Duck-Woo, Country Manger of F5 Networks Korea. "A lot of organizations including universities, e-ticketing sites for culture events, hospitals, airports and even railways, that rely on online business transactions and are impacted by seasonal peak periods can benefit from BIG-IP LTM for better business."
Chungnam National University founded in 1952 has been getting the best reputation in middle part of Korea. Now it is making efforts in each field under the objective '100 Global Universities.'
